Zwaagdijk

Zwaagdijk consists of two village centres: Zwaagdijk-Oost and Zwaagdijk-West. The old fen river Kromme Leek runs along Zwaagdijk-Oost. Both village centres are elongated linear villages that still maintain their tradition of agriculture and cattle breeding. The little lake “het Weeltje” was the result of a dike breach in the distant past, but remains significant because the English army used it in the Second World War for weapons drops.
