WinkelWinkel was the first settlement in Westfriesland that obtained city rights, already back in 1248. In recent years it has virtually merged with neighbouring Nieuwe Niedorp, with which it shares a shopping mall and a library. The centerpiece of the village is the characteristic Regthuis from 1599, which now houses a unique perfume bottle museum. A retired metalworker has built a number of decorative buildings (“Follies”) at the Limmerschouw that are known as the “Dutch Kremlin” because of their Russian appearance. |
