Winkel Winkel was the first settlement in Westfriesland that obtained city rights, already back in 1248. In recent years it has virtually merged with neighbouring Nieuwe Niedorp, with which it shares a shopping mall and a library. The centerpiece of the village is the characteristic Regthuis from 1599, which now houses a unique perfume bottle museum. A retired metalworker has built a number of decorative buildings (“Follies”) at the Limmerschouw that are known as the “Dutch Kremlin” because of their Russian appearance. |
