UrsemUrsem is located right at the edge of Westfriesland, close to the large drained polder “De Schermer” and the polder “De Mijzen”. It is an old settlement: the first historical references of “Urisheim” can be found in the records of the Abbey of Egmond in the year 1083. The “Walingsdijk” runs from Avenhorn along a wide canal with a beautiful wooden bridge. The area around Ursem is dotted with windmills and the nearby Ursemmerplas lake is a favourite destination for nature lovers. A deer reserve is located south of the village. |
