Nieuwe NiedorpNieuwe Niedorp is the largest village in the municipality of “Hollands Kroon”(“the Crown of Holland”) and is a beautiful and green village. It can trace its history as a ‘new’ village back to the 13th century. Many monumental buildings line the central Dorpsstraat and its authentic canal, including a slanted Church tower, numerous impressive farmhouses and a 17th century lock. The lovingly restored “Westermolen” windmill at the Oosterweg still drains the Oosterpolder, and a monastery and an engine museum add to the many tourist attractions the village has on offer. Its main event of the year is the Floralia in September, during which the local residents craft beautiful works of art with floral mosaics and display them in their gardens. |
