Lutjewinkel

Lutjewinkel emerged as a part of the nearby village of Winkel. Its name is derived from the old Dutch word for small, “Lutje”. Its traditional economy revolved around the old cheese factory from 1916 that burnt down several times but has been rebuilt each time. It also has a small village centre and several typical West-Frisian farmhouses of the Haubarg type.
