EnkhuizenThere’s a reason why many sailing ships make port in Enkhuizen, and why it is the port of origin of numerous historical sailing vessels. The convenient size of the harbor and the adjacent town centre make it irresistible to stroll around. While doing so, you are bound to pass De Drom (the southern entry gate to the town), the many restaurants with terraces, beautiful historical buildings from the era of the Dutch East Indies Company, and the lovely “Snouck van Loosen-park”. There is also a museum in the harbor dedicated to the nationally well-known Enkhuizer Almanac, a little book crammed full useful information such as weather forecasts, planting dates and tide tables. The town canals recall the agricultural past of Enkhuizen and offer perfect opportunities for a boat trip or a walk. |
