BarsingerhornThe picturesque village of Barsingerhorn can trace its history back to the 13th century when it was established along an old dike, the Miel Dike. In 1993 a large part of the characteristic linear village was declared protected heritage by the province. The atmosphere in the village is best described by the village motto: "where time temporarily stood still". The former 17th century town hall has served as a residency for the municipality for some time, but after the recent municipal reorganization it was turned into a location for gatherings and weddings. Located along the water route from Kolhorn to Schagen, Barsingerhorn is adorned with a number of beautiful mansions and farmhouses (of the Haubarg type) with traditional rooftops. |
